I was in the EC last year and very much admired your xcr. So much so that it has insipred my next boat. I tried, unsucessfully, to acquire plans for the xcr. I am going with a modified trilars. My question is about your akas, could you tell me what they are made out of? Thanks
Hi Scott. My akas are 2″ OD aluminum. Each section is 5′ long and they are connected in the center with a 1.875″ diameter insert. Are you planning to be in the EC this year?
Thanks. No, I work in Elections so no time this year. I am planning to be at the start and then drive down to cp1 to do some paddling, but have to get back by Sunday night.
I hope to run it next year in the trilars. I want to differ from the plans so that the amas can be taken in quickly for paddling in the WW. I am building a mast with roller reefing similar to yours last year. I also plan to skirt the entire cockpit as well.
