Hi folks, would a Current Designs Kestrel 160 work for the EC?

Just about any boat will work for the EC if the captain's skills are up to the task.
The Kestrel 160 should be fine. But be careful with the max load capacity of 350 pounds. We recommend that boats be loaded to about 80% of their max capacity which would yield a working load of 280 pounds. Subtract your weight when fully outfitted for adventure paddling and you will have your gear, food and water load limit.
Also, keep in mind that the bow and stern should be filled with a waterproof flotation bags that are filled with nothing but lite weight fillers. No heavy loads in the bow and stern! I promise to write an article on this very soon.
Think like a backpacker and be smart about your required equipment and you should be fine.
