Ten days ago I started having lower back problems and haven't been able to kayak since. I still haven't recovered enough to get into my kayak and paddle, so I won't be on the beach for the EC. I'll miss enjoying the adventure with all of you. Have a great time, John.

Oh, John, I am so sorry. I'm even bringing the WeeOne's paddle as my possible spare for you to gaze lovingly upon once more. Will be thinking of you.

Oh no...I'm so sorry you are hurting and aren't able to come to FL, John. You will be missed. Take care and I hope you are back in that beautiful kayak very soon.

You are one of the racers that I was going to most closely follow. Sorry you are going to miss. Do what the pro athletes do and get some coritzone (steroid) shots and give it hell!!!

Having lived with a chronic back sprain for most of 40 years I heartily endorse steroids, oral or injected, to significantly hasten the recovery. It still requires a gradual return to full capacity. 4 days isn't going to cut it. My condolences for missing this year.

John, I will miss seeing you on the course. Enjoyed talking to you along the way. Your boats are more than kayaks, pieces of art.
How are your legs??? Can you build a boat that uses a Mirage Drive??? Main reason why I switched from a Kayak to a Hobie...
