Has anyone used this mattress inflator from Camp-Tek? Also fits the older Expeds.

Talking About Adventure In Small Boats
Neat! We have the Big Agnes Insulated Air-Core mattresses, which are SUPER comfortable, but it can be kind of a pain to blow them up. Especially when you've been paddling or hiking all day, and you just want to sleep... Nice find!

I've just bought one. I'll keep you all posted

Will it deflate as well? I didn't see that as possible in the video. What size batteries? that wasn't mentioned anywhere.
Just a note: I got a schnozzel for my Exped 9 DLX dam with the internal pump, and the dry bag to inflate works pretty good.
This inflater machine sounds like it could be pretty cool . For WT type events would be a great way to cut down on the fussing around and enable you to just hit the mat and pass out. Actually, for any seakayaking adventure this would be just the ticket if you got the room.
Fabulous find, KB! Can't wait to hear your results. Nice bonus to let the mattress inflate while one is changing into camp clothes or chowing down. Minimal weight is a huge plus.

From the video, it looks like two AAA batteries--either that or two AA.
It won't deflate your mat--one way pressure. You have to do that manually as usual. And that only takes seconds.
I have the older Exped 7, which uses the stuff bag as its bellows. It works well--falls off every now and then--but takes a little while and gets a bit cramped in a one-person tent if you have to inflate indoors.

My Microburst arrived in the mail yesterday. What a beauty--highly recommended! Full review on my blog.

You mentioned that they were AAA batteries, so with what type are you trying the pump out with? normal alkalines? how many fills do you expect to get with your expend 7 with a single set of batteries?
btw, nice blog!
I've added that to the blog entry, Spidennis--thanks:
"For longer camping trips, Camp-Tek recommends using lithium batteries, and with that you should get about 25 inflations."
I typically take seven days (Saturday to Friday afternoon) to complete an EC (I love the Wilderness Waterway and don't want to finish any earlier as would rather be paddling than sitting at the hotel!), so that's six inflations--thus plenty of battery for that, even if I used alkalines.

KiwiBird,
I have an Exped 7 with the hand pump built into the mattress. It still takes a minute or two to inflate it but my wrists and fingers don't feel the greatest even using the pump.
Will the electric one attach on my Exped also?
Thanks,
Brad
I don't think it will, Brad, without some form of adaptor. For the Microburst, you definitely need a protuding nozzle of some sort.

Brad, I got the 9 dlx version of what you got. I now have a exped "schnozzel" and dry bag to pump up my DAM but before I had that I made my own adapter out of pvc tubing using a bench grinder and dremel and tested it out using just a plastic bag (knowing that later I'd get a dry bag for this system).
I got a little video of it here: http://youtu.be/SRZczeF2F6A
I plan on using that connector/schnozzel on the microburst but also seeing what it would take to also make it deflate the pad as well. Getting all the air out is sometimes a pain, rolling it up is not so bad if there's no air in it. If I can get the microburst to deflate then it would be nicer that using the dry bag inflation system but if I got both, then cool!
I also got the chair kit for the 9 dlx which is pretty nice. It does take up some room though, but the best part is the liner, it is much easier to shake out the sand, dirt and grime that makes it's way onto the pad. I got a three month trip in the works and I'm sure it's gonna be worth it's weight in gold!
edit: here are some pics of the diy schnozzel and exped production model:

Oh and one last thing, you're gonna need the "Flat valve adapter" for the schnozzel to fit your dam. I got an advanced prototype model last year so it should be available now. I also talk directly with the US exped guys and I can dig up their info if you need it.
KiwiBird,
I ordered one and it just arrived... can't wait to get home and test it on my Big Agnes. I camp almost every month with the Boy Scouts and the adult leaders are always coming up with some new gadget. This will make the guys jealous!
Thanks,
Santiago
