Benched for this one and tracking and cheering y'all on from my LaZBoy.
I gather USCG did not help SewSew re-right Sizzor and then tow her in (I'm too familiar with their reluctance to tow..). Q: If not, is she now safe&sound? If lost, that's a big loss.
I see no further positions after Saturday so his UFC is done?
The answers are probably on FB but I am NOT.
Thanks!

DonKeyHoTey,
Near as I've been able to work out, as a fellow non-FBer, SewSew marshalled resources the day after the capsize and set out to find the boat. He got lucky, given how small and blue she is (btw, his new boat is Synergy, not Sizzor), not to mention floating low in the water given the lack of volume, and reportedly brought her back to shore. I probably read this in Sailing Anarchy but won't swear to it at this point.
I've not seen anywhere information about actions taken or not taken by the coasties during his rescue. I can't imagine them trying to help right a delicate capsized boat. In fact, SewSew may have asked that they not given his prior boat-crushing experience with "helpful" law enforcement types.

Thanks for that, 1WF. Yes I should have been monitoring the SA jungle telegraph.
I'm guessing he did a high-speed digger in the dark. A very delicate operation, flipping 20' of beam back upright, sideways, especially if her rig was still intact after the crash and hanging out in shallow water. Vessel recovery is no longer part of the coasties' mission - partly because they get sued for breaking things. Rumline got lucky with his tow.
This points to the value of having a SPOT attached to your craft when abandoning her in a rescue. An anchor is good but belt &braces is better: in my own teachable moment, after having to jump off my swamped but securely anchored pride&joy on coasties' orders, she went AWOL for 9 days because some f*****g crabber cut her rode. Next time.. I'm guessing that SewSew and most other Challengers don't carry suitable - or any - ground tackle onboard.

Ha! I remember your story and the cut rode. Horrible human being, that.
Thanks for the great idea of leaving the Spot attached to the boat if one must abandon ship. I tend to think I would grab anything valuable while departing, assuming that I'd never see the boat again. Now I know to consider the Spot as an installed tracking device. Brilliant!
