Can anyone tell me anything about a boat design called a Sawyer-Yak or Loon-Yak. It's 17ft long, looks like a Kruger Sewind. Maybe a copy? I think I just purchased one. Thanks in advance.

At 17 ft I believe you are referring to the Sawyer Loon which was the first expedition solo canoe Verlen Kruger designed.
Read the book. "All Things are Possible: The Verlen Kruger Story: 100,000 Miles" by Philip Peterson. He covers the evolution of the boats.

So did you purchase a Sawyer Loon?
Good if you did!
The Sawyer Loon was Verlen's first design sold commercially if I'm correct. It is a fine boat. It is fast and a trim boat. Subsequent designs, the Mad River Monarch and the Kruger Sea Wind, are larger and more seaworthy boats that have higher hauling capacities. They are perhaps more suited to rough waters and heavier loads. But that doesn't mean a Loon is not an EC craft, don't get me wrong. Personally, I would not use my Loon in an EC because I have a Sea Wind and Clipper Sea 1 which I prefer. I don't know that anyone has ever done an EC in a Loon. NOT that it couldn't or shouldn't be done. Only that I was glad to have my Sea Wind and Clipper in the conditions that I encountered the three times I did the EC.
