   I have been holding out waiting for a change, but it does not look like its in the works.  I am going to have to pull out from the race.  I am beyond disapointed but my reasoning is sound.  I put a colassal amount of effort into this so far, including purchasing a Dream Catcher and sail rigs.  I did a trip through the everglades to check it out, this was a 4.5 thousand kilometer journey for me just to get there.  I have never been in better shape in my life.  I am ready.  However.... I am having issues at home that I have to put first.  I look forward to scribing my name on the 2013 roster and returning to the everglades next year.  Best of luck to everyone and thank you for all of your advice and support.

   Uthred, sorry to hear it, and I know that feeling as I'm sure everyone here does (to some extent anyway).  Maybe you can put all the gear, prep and training into a trip near home when you get the chance?

   If you're able to work things out at home . . . you also have an opportunity to participate in this year's Tip of the Mitt Adventure to be held this June on Lake Huron and Michigan with either a 150 half distance or 300 mile full distance off shore route to select from.  Another alternative is to go shore-to-shore with a bunch of other Krugers including Mishigami from whom I believe you purchased your Kruger from, as they paddle the AuSable and Manistee Rivers across the lower peninsula of Michigan.  For more info on this years ToM to be held in June, go to: http://sites.google.com/site/vkmchallenge/adventure-details#TOC-Tip-of-the-Mitt-Lake-Michigan-150.  This is a great event to hone your skills for next year's EC . . . it's a lot closer to home and you'll also find yourself in the company of a bunch of WaterTribers.

   Thank you everyone.  BlackSun,  I would love to do the shore to shore - of course I have a wedding booked on the 23rd  - I photograph weddings for a living.  I can however do one the 150's and have marked it on my calendar.  When does the shore to shore get posted for the following year?  I book pretty far in advance and would love to be able to do that the following year.

   Scareman, I will get you some icewine - however its not that great of a year for it I dont think because its been so warm.  I also bought a trailer so that I could bring people back with me, I used it to bring two kayaks down from here in November when I went.  

   Beluga ( my Kruger ) will be happy to hear about the races in June.  Hopefully all will be sorted out by then.

   Uthred,

   The Kruger events are at best described as "semi-organized."  They are run more along the lines of "Hey everyone, I'm going paddling (or sailing) on such and such a date, anyone else who wants to come along is welcome."  That being said, it is generally planned on or around the full moon week of June.

   I will be paddling the Manistee 150 this year in my new Sea Wind, so hopefully we will see you there!
