Talking About Adventure In Small Boats
Over at Outsideonline.com, is the story of 3 guys in a wood dory named the
Emerald mile who set the speed record for running the 277 miles of rapids in the
Grand Canyon in June 1983, using the huge amount of water released upstream by
the Glen Canyon dam from a massive snow melt that threatened the dam. A very
interesting story !

The author has a book about this story that just came out. Heard the story on NPR this weekend, and then searched for more on the web. I would like to know what kind of trouble they got into. I could sympathize with the rowers night rowing as my wife and I did a 4 day row camping trip down the Suwannee river and rowed the first night for 4 hours in the pitch black due to a late start. Running rapids in the dark will get your juices flowing.
