The Derby idea has the additional advantage that it tests the tracking system. The tracking system needs to be bombproof, but it has continually failed.

With the EC Derby starting up only after the NC challenges, it would put quite a burden on us who live in colder climes to amass the required points. (We are all not nearly as tough as Scareman...) Start the derby now if we are going that way.

I could see going as far as to require 1 logged/documented overnight trip. We are supposed to be experts - and if we aren't, well, we have only ourselves to blame (yeah, I know, the lawyers and the nanny-state will never let THAT reasoning fly).
