Just a couple of items that worked so well I thought they were worth mentioning. The test was compatibility with a grumpy old man in an open dinghy in cruise/camping mode. My Mantus anchor was a little expensive, but I doubt the Danforth will get much use in the future. It did everything you need done and so reliably and well as to be hardly noticeable. Woolens in general, and long johns from Duluth Trading in particular, also proved to be a great choice. Not only under a dry suit, but on their own as well, they kept me comfortable day, night, dry , wet, cold or warm. And, after a week, they didn’t stink (enough for me to notice). Ibex makes very fine and expensive woolens, but I think the Duluth long johns were more durable.

Ahh good to hear. Duluth Trading products are build to last - I only have a pair of their jeans but I can't seem to wear them out! I'll have to put there wool long johns on my Christmas list!
With regard to wool I've always had the Norwegian sailor image in my head, with the heavy cable wool sweater. In the old days wool was the only fabric that would keep you warm when wet, if I remember correctly. With all the new synthetic fabrics, are there any of those that work like wool and keep you warm when wet?
Thanks also for the Mantus info - can you tell us the length of your boat and size of the Mantus anchor? TY
