Looks like you are getting the hang of it.
On the first one where the photo didin't show up it looks like you put a [/img] tag on the end of the URL. Otherwise it would have worked.
I didn't know that you could paste photos. I am guessing that the image resizer cannot work with that format. That the reason they are showing up so large.
Try to use the [img] tags if you can.

and so it shows 940 wide, so I'll set it at 600 wide and see how that fits on the screen.
there should be a size we should all shoot for, maybe even limit it on the re size function?
edit: 600 still looks too big on my monitor so now here's 480
bottom line: seems the image re sizer is not working for me? Maybe it doesn't like my aspect ratio?
