Made two improvements on the hat.. Found in the past in big wind gust the chin strap doesn't keep hat on, so wife graciously sewed on a thicker cloth covered rubber band, that easily loop under the chin when needed or stores above the brim of hat..
Big problem have had is getting readers on in bad conditions to read gps on the fly, tried bifocals but bad experience, flips on my sunglasses, too bulky and attachments blocked vision. Ordered these $6 1.5's Flip downs amazon, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BZPAXOW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
Put on my sunglasses, then put flipdowns just in front of sunglass, while wifester marked top of hat for position with four holes, then used galvanized wire lash- fix through brim of hat, further bedded with contact cement (overkill) , finally flipped all the way tup, and used dremmel to cut off the bottom of the lenses that protruded beyond the brim to prevent any reflection or glare, finished the cut edges filing and coating black..(dremmel cut on one side got a little shoddy, wish I had taken more time to do right)
Think this will be big improvement, and very easy to flip down in split second, and hand back on boom in one motion. wEN popped up against the underside of brim, COMPLETELY out of field of vision, and gotta imagine will get less than salt spray on them than my usual readers.... Works great on my back porch, will test on water soon...
