First I want to be very clear. No decision has been made on this subject at this time. However, the weather forecasts are indicating an interesting day on Saturday. We have to be ready for anything. I misspoke with PaddleDancer earlier today, and I want to clear this up.
I will make the decision regarding Optional Plan B or Mandatory Plan B Friday morning. You will be informed when you report for your Lifejacket (aka PFD) Inspection.
Optional Plan B:
- The key word is "Optional."
- As captain of your own boat, you can make the decision to go into Plan B or setup on the beach and launch from Fort Desoto.
- If you select Plan B, you do not have to setup on the beach. You do have to fill out all paperwork and get your Required Equipment inspected.
- If you select Plan B, you must inform the event officials and write Plan B on your Float Plan. Also, indicate your launch point.
- If you select Plan B and you have not completed a previous EC or UM, you must attend the Captains Meeting at Pavilian 13 at 03:00 PM.
- If you selecgt Plan B, you may leave the park and drive to your selected launch site after the Captains Meeting.
If you do not select the Plan B Option, you setup on the beach as you normally would.
What about Mandatory Plan B? That is also a possiblity. If we tell you that at checkin, then nobody sets up on the beach and everyone has to go to Plan B.
What if I decide to not take the Plan B Option (if it was offered) and I setup on the beach and then change my mind Saturday morning? Then you let us know and get your stuff off the beach and go for your Plan B.
Kind of confusing, I know. But the weather forecast indicates that an Optional Plan B is a 50/50 chance at this time.
