BeastO, if you paypal my entry fee to Chief, I'll teach you how to paddle while facing forward. Thought my spot/plb was in there already but guessing it disapears, gonna do it soon as get home this evening... Looking forward to this event (the Harlowe, not so much)
Awaiting invoice here as well.
Anyone scouting the course in September?
Invoices for this week just went out. But we are still in a situation where most of you don't have your SPOT and PLB registered. If you did not get an invoice today (Friday, 8/19/16), that is why.
I'm setting up tracks for the NCC. With the campground (and maybe) motel open, will we start at the house behind the island or on the beach? Inquiring minds want to know.
The overview of the event lists four options for the start. At the time that overview was written, the motel and campgrounds were not scheduled to be available. Although the situation has improved a lot since then, we still have all four options available and the choice is yours.
That being said and if weather permits, my preferred launch point is the beach. But you can decide what you want to do after assessing the weather yourself. I suggest you have at least two options ready to go with your planning.
We will be sending out an email with more guideance on registration and inspection locations and such when we get a little closer to the event.
The good news in all of this is that Cedar Island is getting back in the game and it is improving tremendously.
I'm looking at doing a scouting trip this weekend. Any advice would be appreciated. Sure looks like a lot of driving.
Scouting this is really difficult you really can see from the land side the challenges , I would suggest get ahold of a small run about and go by water spots around the course . and Google earth and paper charts are maybe the next best thing. Good luck . Puma
