Would be nice if some of us could meet up for dinner Sunday night if you're going to be in town early ... or perhaps we could all meetup at the big pasta dinner held right before the Captain's Meeting Monday and get a big table.

Who's all going and when will you be arriving in Kansas City? CWolfe, I know you're going. Actually, I'm just doing the MR to save you from going upstream in a downstream race again ;) Waimanu is signed up as is CaptJackOtter. Anyone else?

Going to miss tailing WhiteCaps and playing tag Stripbuilder down the course. Will miss you guys.

I was signed up, but had to fore go it. My car decided to give me some unexpected repair expenses: timing chain took out 9 valves, and then two weeks later the transmission took a big chunk of change.

Anyway, there is always next year.

I will be there. I have to admit Dolphin girl, I perused for your entry and found relief knowing you will be there to point me downstream. Manitou Cruiser is entered and Mr. Everett Crozier has a team for his OC/6. I am sorry to hear Toby is not coming.
I won't be getting to the Kaw until midday Monday as my support team has a six year old boy and there is this diner in Ames Iowa that makes pancakes that poetry should be written for and no six year old or sixty year old should pass anywhere close without stopping to smell the syrup.

It is going to be fun

Oh yeah, lotta fun. Temps from weather underground and NOAA are saying 97 to 105 with a heat index of 113. Are we nuts? What is the melting point of humans?

And 40% chance of t-storms ... now they scare me, especially after the disaster we had here in south Jersey at the end of June - looked like a hurricane hit with all the downed and busted up trees. River flow and some gauges I checked are down to 25-35% of what they were in 2010. Ok, that was a high year, but still ... river is way down with the drought - MUCH slower water. Oh yeah, gonna be a lotta fun.

Whoohoo, glad ManitouCruiser will be there. Didn't see his name on the list a couple of months ago. Maybe I just missed it or he was a late entry. I knew Everett was going to be there.

I will look for you at the staging area Monday afternoon.

Carrie and I hope to arrive KC late Sat afternoon and leave boat (#2201) on grassy area between garage and hotel ...early Sun am driving car and trailer to ST Chas, returning with our ground crew Team Vollmer (Lewis and Linda) late afternoon ...Carrie will be around the hotel eating bon-bons, getting her hair done and shopping for her girls! ...keep an eye out for her ...dinner either or both nights sounds good tome ...we leave noon Fri ...safe trip all

Well I'm not a EC veteran, yet... I will be ground crewing for Tim Keen and Jack Murgittroyd in a tandem Kruger Cruiser. I am a 2X 340 veteran and Tim Keen and I both will be doing the EC in 2013.

Manitou Cruiser will not be making the 340 this year, from what I hear.

So yeah, "let's get oriented together" C! Yeah let's try to get a table at the pasta buffet before the safety meeting!

I think that there is another Watertriber in the MR340:

You might remember him from last years NCC and the EC.

It is painful to watch all these races going by this summer. Work has kept me off the water for three weeks now. I must not be doing something right...

Look for Mike Smith from Michigan and Sandy Krueger from Wisconsin. They're paddling a tandem. Not WaterTribers yet (I'm workin' on 'em!) but both just finished the Across Michigan and I know would like to meet some of you guys. I met both of them last year when we did a 100 mile canoe down the Wisconsin to the Mississippi. Jack Murgittroyd also did that trip. We're all heading down the Muskegon in October if anyone has a burnin' desire to join. I'll be watching all of you...have a great time!

I've arranged a ride from St. Charles to KC for Mike and Sandy and will be getting their canoe and gear to Kaw...so yes I will try to drag them along!

Yep this is a fun one. A lot of WaterTribers and some future Tribers are in it. I already have regrets sending Scott my drop out.

Hey Bill tell Carrie I want a race against her. You two have a good time as always and thanks for the loonies. Ya know I will be watching.

1st year for spot tracking should be interesting to see how it works.

Met up with Waimanu, his daughter, Carrie (they're doing tandem), and their support person, Lewis, tonight for dinner. Obviously talked race plans and found we had the same ideas ... real basic this year --- stay hydrated and get to the finish without heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Found we were both shooting for a late Thursday night/wee hours of Friday morning finish. We shall see - have no clue what's going to happen with this heat.

At 9:18 tonight it was 97 degrees with a heat index of 100! Yes, 9:18 PM ... and humidity so thick, yup, could cut it with a knife. Even with the week's forecast being 102 for Tuesday's start and 106 for Wednesday, our spirits were high, the meal scrumptious, and the company outstanding. We'll try to meet up with as many of the others mentioned in this thread tomorrow when staging boats.

Bosab: Both Waimanu and I plan a stop at Jefferson City. What's this about the Muskegon ? How long a trip ? May be a good shake down cruise for the DC. Let me know the details . R

Here's what I know about the Muskegon trip: It will be a mosey of 100-150 miles. Starting on Tuesday, October 2nd and ending on Sunday, October 7th (some of us have to get back to work...arg). More will be revealed after the MR340. Best to everyone starting the race today!

For thoseof you tracking the MR340, there is another SPOT site. This one does not have the nice Google Earth map but it does have some other info. Shows all the SPOT racers...

Kathy is doing a great run at the MR340. Amazing how she can cope with the scorching heat. This is her Olympics I guess.

Talked with Dolphin Gal when she finished. One word HOT! Even at night she said it miserable.

Cwolf done the mens solo proud. 9th in a very impressive field of competion.

All of them that finished in this one did a heck of a job.

Seems to me Watertribe has trained some hard chargers!
