ok toby, you got a point, let's start with this year, and you have to finish, so what we have are contenders for the Award. Now lets see if we can did up some nice pics of each contender's entry. If it's not an "official" award I'm sure we can come up with something to honor the fact, right?

Race proven boats:
Randy's SewSew, Roo's EC22, SOS & DWSB's tweaked Core sound, Wizard's slew of designs, but special mention for his UFC ride, & Chief's tri finishing last year in fine form under new management;-)
Lots of others I'm missing no doubt
New boats & New ideas--
Teak's boat--HOBIE put something like this in production! JollyRoger's current build is cool too. SOS's current build is completely amazing. I hope his trip to Europe isn't so long it messes with his finishing it in time... Chief's Tamanu build (I've gotta check it out to see what ideas I can borrow for my own build) And lots of others I'm missing out on.
Chief, I am so thankful for your efforts on the new site. Linking blogs of builds is super helpful and an exciting way to stay energized in the midst of a chicago winter!

FYI since you are on sewsew's boat, video taken by Randy sailing at better than windspeed. est. 7-8 knots of wind and doing est. 11 knots.
Macatawa, speaking of mental toughness I hope you are following Pelican's blog. I have his dvd set and it has some great info in it. Looking forward to his next post to his blog.

Is Teak entered in this year's event? Is that his Watertribe name?
I have to say, I'm thrilled to see another small cat with in-hull seating. For a long time-- almost 4 years now-- I hadn't seen another besides Slider.
Of course, Slider is a bigger, heavier, and slower boat. I'm wondering if Teak plans to shift cockpits with each tack. I put up with a modest rig and extra weight so I won't have to scramble around.
Hey Slider, you should enter your boat in the EC next time! Yeah sure, you're only gonna see Randy Smyth for the first 100 yards from the start but that'll be the case for everyone anyway.
...... and not to get too far off topic, we should chat some ..... I like your folding idea on your blog, and I got a few ideas myself (with a model staring me in my face all the time). Presently I'm not interested with the in hull seating with my small cat "Bad Kitty" but when I make a larger version it would be nice to have that feature for my coastal cruiser, think Stiltto or MacGregor 36 that folds.

Yeah, since Randy isn't running the EC this year, it's probably a lock for Lumpy and Bumpy. Or maybe I don't understand how that works. I have the impression that the races have the same start, but are actually separate events.

As I understand it, UFC participants are also included in the EC. If they fail to finish the UFC after Key Largo, they still get a EC finish. Chief can correct me if I am wrong.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and their boats.

Challengers in the Ultimate Florida don't show up in the Everglades Challenge roster, but they get credit in the results as completing the EC. So someone doing the UF can set EC records. Also, in the mapper if you are looking at EC tracks you will also see UF participants. If you select the UF for mapping you will only see UF participants.
If someone has to drop out of the UF but they got to Key Largo they are then moved to the EC roster.
