I wear the Shannon Bug Tamer suit over a Tee shirt and shorts, hunting, in the early fall, with temperatures aprox. in the mid to lower 80's, in the swamps of south Georgia. They really work! The hooded jacket comes with a attached face veil. The suit, jacket and pants is constructed of netting with a large diameter cording beneath, in order to increase the thickness to beyond the depth of which a mosquito can penetrate! The suits come either in camo or green!

Don't go ashore and you wont encounter them.
If you have to go ashore, do it late at night or during the day. Avoid between dusk and 2100.
Use Picaridin. It wont destroy your high tech gear and is as effective as DEET imo. Sawyer lotion available from amazon and others (nearly scent free).
If all else fails, become one with them like WhiteCaps who upon observing me freaking out said "They just take a little". Didn't help at all, but I hear that in my head every time they dine on me.

I picked up some Natrapel after the last time MicroTom mentioned it. We anchored off Lostman's Key last year and there were at least 5 mosquitos per cubic foot and none of them bit us. The stuff works great. You don't feel gross either after you put it on. It doesn't smell bad either.
