I might be able to make it. I'll start working it into my plans and hope for the best.

This is my FAVORITE venue! We have made a two night trip of it with our camper several times. Unfortunately we will be back country in Yellowstone on Lake Shoshone:(
Have fun!

Lake Shoshosne is GREAT! There is a mini Yellowstone, The Shoshone Geyser Basin, at the southwest end of the lake...I'm sure you are aware of that...it is a wonderful area to visit. It is the headwaters for the Lewis River and a serious trip up the river to reach it by kayak or canoe. Be careful.

Chekika, we did it last year, when they first opened the lake. The Lewis channel was quite a challenge being early runoff. We never saw another human for 2 days, then just one kayak. We had the Shoshone geyser basin to ourselves for a full day:) It was completely amazing which is why we are going again this year, but fearing it will be hot and more people being late July instead of early June...
Sorry to hijack the thread Sundance! Have a fun race / party!

We only saw people when we reached Shoshone Lake. There was a sail boat and maybe a canoe. See here.
They were not around the next day, and we saw no more people. We were there in the middle of August, 2009. I doubt you will see many people. That is a distinctly difficult trip up Lewis River against a very strong current. Yes, Sundance, sorry to hijack your thread...just reminiscing.

I want this thread back! :)
Are these races out and back or all down stream?

Out and back.

Sundance and Hammerstroke, thanks for the fun event!
For those who missed it, you missed a great venue, good training opportunity and a fun time.Water levels were extremely high, with a fast current. Going upstream required some eddy hopping, and going downstream, in the heart of the current made for some 8mph+ speeds. Ed Joy crushed it, his cadence never faltered, and he finished about 15 minutes ahead of everyone else -- quite impressive!
