Setup Day and Day 1:
Talking About Adventure In Small Boats
Great vid, Macatawa. Thanks for sharing. Was that SSS where you beached and dried out after Sarasota Bay? Great time to CP1, BTW. Very efficient work.
Yes, that was the SSS beach. For the record, I was in a Kruger so I was already dry... the kayakers were another story :)
Great work Ben! I'm looking forward to future installments!

Keep'em coming Ben. Outstanding!
nice vid. really enjoyed it.
Great job on the vids Ben! I had a great time hanging with you and your dad!
The Wiggins pass exit was a great video shot. We enjoyed watching you and your dad on the tracking map. Congrats on a great finish.
I love the part in alligator creek, right after you look back your garmin does the "ding ding" signaling you reached a waypoint in the gps. We lived for that some times. Nice video, expertly done!
Day 5 - Part 1: The Nightmare
Ironically, "The Nightmare" was by far my favorite part of the event... After struggling through last year in the middle of the night, our experience this year was amazing... filtered sunlight, no wind, chirping birds...
I forgot to add... especially for the Nightmare video, it is best at 720 HD in fullscreen mode.
Absolutely beautiful, excellent job sir. Well done!
Meatloaf
Amazing! What a different experience from what we did on the outside. Last year you did that route in your larger expedition canoe style boat, correct? Looked like a TI could do it, course in 2 years what will it look like then?
Ben, I really liked your Nightmare video since I was not able to do that section being too wide. Perhaps one day I will get a skinnier boat and see all the beauty.
Ben, What is the distance to paddle through the Nightmare, and how long did it take you and your dad to do it?
Brad
By my GPS track, the distance from Broad River Chickee (just before the entrance) to Harney River Chickee (the end) is 9 miles. About 3 of those miles are wide open easy paddling, most of the rest are slower, careful paddling, and a few parts are "put down the paddle and pull on branches."
It took us about 3 hours to get through. We timed the tides pretty well, we started about an hour before high tide at the entrance, so we had plenty of water for clear paddling. I have seen (and experienced) going through at low tide and it is a whole different story.
Last year we went through after dark, closer to low tide, in a less maneuverable boat, and it took us about 8 hours, it really was a "nightmare!"
YMMV
The playlist has been published to the archives. Great fun watching them and I think the videos of the Nightmare might be the best yet.
