Anyone seen the message from Devon Cruson on Watertribe Facebook? Looks like Google earth captured many Watertribers in their pass over the FL bay area. There looks to be a yellow Triak (Cleanslate) and red AI in CP3 as well as a green kayak and one boat being carried to the salt water side. 2 more kayaks are in the canal and our Nomad and a Sea pearl are at the finish! So cool!
Looks like several watertribers are on Google earth at CP3

That IS cool! Before others go crazy looking for your own boat (like I did), note that the imagery date changes North of Whitewater Bay.

Macatawa found himself and his dad exiting Twisty Mile and he also found yakmandu's group a little farther east.

If you look further SouthEast of Yakmandu's group, there is a sailboat - I'm guessing Teak (I don't know sailboats), although Stuntman and Penguinman are also supposedly in the same vicinity at that time. If you figure out where you were at 1:10 PM on 3/7 (not sure why imagery date says 3/6), you MAY be able to spot yourself. Wow, makes you appreciate the need for a PLB. Chief, a few minutes slower and you would have been put on the map!

In the freshwater, the time seems to be different - probably multi-pass, so a bit of a crapshoot. I think I found Scareman (and ?) in his 2+ PM location between Joe River and Coot Bay, and that might be SandyBottom in Buttonwood Canal at her 2 PM position. And Seiche & KiwiBird further along in the canal, at their 1:45 PM position?
Gotta stop. But this could be a fun "Navigation Derby", points for finding people. Still have not found the cats.

Cool! I just found Cliffjumps, Yakmandou and myself a little further south. Really makes you appreciate how small you are and how great the expanses crossed are.

Is this a couple in the tribe also?

I think Teak is a good guess. Looks like a red tri

also if you go look around Ft Desoto there is a pic (you have to hunt and peck) of the boats setting up. It has been there at least a year and a half. It's labeled "Start, East Beach, Mullet Key, Everglades Challenge 2010". It is just off the beach. This might be old news

For the vessels tied up at the docks, I know for certain the following because we had all camped out the night before at MiddleCape and arrived at CP3 at about the same time. WindBlown lingered about 3 hours and then pushed off to continue on to Key Largo. DancesWithWaves and myself decided to spend the day at Flamingo and then get an early departure the next day to experience Florida Bay all during daylight hours. This picture must have been taken at around 2:30 PM or so (since WindBlown was still there).

CleanSlate,
Is that Shane's paddle board at the boat ramp?
Posted 7 years ago # -
I think I see ZeroTheHero and DonKeyHoTey crossing the road for beers.

Exiting Joe River headed towards Coot Bay, 3 kayakers (2 more further West)

I notice my Kruger is on top of my truck at Flaningo AND at my house in Tennessee. It's amazing the sleight of hand that is possible with computers!

Those three boats together are Scareman, Barks-at-Waves and myself. That would put the Cats, Feral and Dead, nearby in Whitewater Bay. I couldn't find them, but was able to see them approaching as we entered the canal.
Posted 7 years ago # -
TideTraveler, no that vessel at the ramp isn't Shane (standUpGuy). Accordign to the EC2013 results, he didn't get to CP3 until about 10 hours after this picture was most likely taken. I'm not usre who it is. Looks like someone from class 1 or 2.

Damn, this is becoming an obsession, like I'm actually on a SAR mission.

M&M, good eyes. I'm not sure those are WaterTribe however. Here is my sleuthing process for the 2 at the South Joe chickees (2nd set of lat/long):
They are kayaks/canoes either in class 1 or 2. In the Tracking map, select class 1, all challengers, tracks & current waypoints - indeed 3 WTs stopped at the chickee.
Now look at the CP3 times in the Results. These 2 kayaks are behind Scareman et al, and we know Feral and Dead cat went further inside through Whitewater Bay. So that leaves Paddlemaker/Savannah Dan or Dolphin Gal (not a SUP so not StandUpGuy, and I was too far behind).
In the Tracking map, selecting each of those challengers individually and show all tracks & waypoints, they went through Whitewater Bay. So therefore these boats are not class 1 WT challengers.
Repeating for class 2, only OneEyedJake is a possibility based on CP3 times. We know from his post above he was with Scareman, but also if you look at his track, he goes through Joe River but not near the chickee. In fact, showing all tracks for all class 2 challengers, none of them stopped at these chickees.
Therefore those 2 kayaks are not WaterTribe. Fun, and teaches you a lot about the routes everyone took!

The cats must be witches.
We know from their tracks that Feral & Dead Cat(s) were in Whitewater Bay at the time of the imagery. But no one can find them on the satellite photograph. Hmmm.
So I painstakingly mapped their route across the bay in Google Earth, as close as I could estimate from their SPOT tracks, from 11:45 AM to after 3 PM. Then I zoomed in on that route, and scanned for their boats. Nothing. Clearly their image cannot be picked up by a camera. We know they are not ghosts, because ghosts cannot kayak. Well, ok, GhostYakker can, but that is all. And they don't look like Sasquatch or whatever the Florida term of endearment is. So that leaves only witches, and that makes sense given their almost too agressive defense of these animals, and the long history of the relationship between cats and witches.
Or maybe because of their background in the service, their images had to be deleted. Maybe they are spies.

The two unidentified folks you are seeing could be a pair of canoes that were traversing the WW. We, Scareman, Barks-at-Waves and I , ran across them at Shark River chickee and again at Joe River chickee.

As Andy said, MM's coordinates most likely map the canoeists that we encountered on the WW. Also, there were so many people in the WW with Chickee permits that we had difficulty finding a Chickee to land on. We were lucky to find Oyster Bay Chickee open and sheltered from the wind that was blowing with already frigid air temps.
Here are some photos. You can see all of these in my link on photobucket -EC 2013. http://s929.photobucket.com/user/scareman/library/EC2013?sort=2&page=1
Here is the Plate Creek Chickee with Savannah Dan and PaddleCarver. We were battling strong starboard bow quartering winds this day, but I still went upwind to get Chickee photos. It felt like I was using a 30 degree ferry angle on this day. This was before the Google photos

Harney River Chickee was full of cats, waves, birds, and a dirty butt (DeadCat, FeralCat, KneadingWater, Seiche, KiwiBird, SandyBottom, maybe HammerStorke, probably a few more too) http://s929.photobucket.com/user/scareman/media/EC2013/DSCF0306HarneyRiverChickeeLoadedwithWaterTribersJPG_zpsf1ccf882.jpg.html?sort=2&o=357
Shark River Chickee was full of canoes as we passed in the wee hours of the night hunting for a place to stop http://s929.photobucket.com/user/scareman/media/EC2013/DSCF0310SharkRiverChickee_zps47863c5a.jpg.html?sort=2&o=361

Blue boat is OneEyedJake. http://s929.photobucket.com/user/scareman/media/EC2013/DSCF0356JoeRivertoButtonwoodCanal_zps70c79895.jpg.html?sort=2&o=402

This is very cool!

where do I find the tracking map? this question may be moot by the time someone answers as I will look around, but already I am fascinated with the different routes people are taking to achieve the objective.
nevermind. i'm on it.

MM go to the Watertribe home page. Open the "features" tab, select "tracking map". Then select a year that is available, a class, a tribe member, and then click the item that says all way points or something like that. Then click "regenerate view". The track will show a position about every 10 or so minutes. There are glitches in some tracks. You can use this to see where people went, when, and how fast. Also you can determine where people camped by seeing where the points stack up. There is a way to get older tracks to show up. I posted a thread about it, I'll see if I can dig it up.
Posted 7 years ago # -
For older tracks, just delete the "G" in the url before "mapper"
Posted 7 years ago # -
I just reposted the thread discussing it titled "older tracks no longer available". Macatawa has a link a few posts in.
BOM thanks for that tip, I never noticed that.
