Hi Everyone looking to make a quick sale on the DC. Has BSD rig with a 38 sail and a 1 meter, PAS as well. Deck mounted compass, spray skirt, cockpit storage bags, hobbie seat. Hull # 18 high volume

Looking to switch to something I can fold up and take on a plane like a Klepper or Long Haul - its a 5000 km round trip for me to get to the EC - that kept me out last year and would really like to be there this year.

I would like as much time as possible fitting out and getting used to a new boat before the EC so looking for a quick sale rather than holding out for a high price.

The boat has a few scratches here and there but is rock solid and for the most part still looks shinny and new.

Sorry, I'm not interested in the Dreamcatcher (already have a Sea Wind) but just an idea about transporting your folding boat... You may want to look into shipping the boat using UPS or FedEx, it may be cheaper than the excess baggage fees that the airline will charge. Just an idea...

I flew down from Minnesota with a folding boat for a few races and it worked great. That was before they started charging baggage fees and I was able to get the entire boat and week's worth of gear in two checked bags (under 50lbs) and one large carry on. That way you can fly in to Ft. Myers and out of Miami, too, so you don't have to deal with shuttling.

You might want to keep your BSD rig and use it on the folder, by the way.

I bought this boat from the original owner (redeye paddler) who said that it was built in 2006. I was the second owner and sold it to Uthred.

Thanks everyone, I did try to phone UPS spent 35 mins on the phone with a challenged individual, I will try again tomorrow. I thought since I was going to go back to the double paddle world I would get in some practice today on my Current Designs Pices, a great kayak, just shy of 18', 24 inch beam loads of storage. I had not used it since taking on the Kruger. Beautiful day, Lake Ontario was like glass I had a great paddle out about 10 miles and then I started to get really sore, needless to day I turned around. By the time I got back I felt like I had been hit by a truck. 20 miles in the Kruger is by no means a short paddle but I never end up feeling like this. I think I may have to rethink my plans. I am going to go out for another 20 mile trip on Thursday, this time back in the Kruger. Poor Maddave.. I had been going back and forth on different rig ideas for the kruger then decided I was going with a Long Haul, he has priced out more kits for me over the past few days then I care to admit. Thanks Dave.

The Long Haul boats seem to appear comfortable, has anyone had any experience with them?

I have a NDK Romany.I had a Seawind. Also bought a Long Haul MK II so I could take my fiance along. Great folding kayak-the best in my opinion. Well built and robust. For me it was cumbersome, not too comfortable and I think it would cost a fortune to take on a plane.Not near as fast as a Kruger and watch out for the oyster beds and sharp objects. I put a 1.4 sqm Kayaksailor rig on it as well.To ship it to California when I sold it it cost over $400 UPS (I'm in Florida). I ended up selling the Long Haul and Kruger to get a Hobie TI to take the place of them both and use the Romany as my solo boat. Big Mistake! I do not enjoy the Romany for much more than 5 or 6 miles anymore. I should have kept the Kruger as my solo boat because of how comfortable it is and a 20-30 miler is nothing. I don't want any "I told you so" comments either!lol!

So I say keep the Kruger. You have the best set-up.

I say keep the Kruger as well. It is true that I have put my Kruger up for sale a couple of times. But my subconscience makes me put a high enough price on it so that it wouldn't sell unless someone was after Verlen's autograph.

A much more sensible solution is to buy another kayak. Keep the Kruger for serious expeditions and kayak sailing. Then get a folding boat for Greenland style paddling and rolling which is a lot of fun and an excellent workout. Checkout Dubside for his Commando Kayaking version of the folding boat life.

Chief and Honusail, thank you for the sound advice. I just finished watching a video of a couple with a Long Haul Comando travelling through the everglades. While yes the boat lives up to its ability to take A LOT of gear as these two packed enough for me to live on for a year. They insisted on loading the boat in the water because of the oysters, I did a similar trip ( I went about 30 miles more ) in the Kruger ( with 1/100th of the gear ) and never had a problem with oysters, yes they were there and yes I was careful but loading the boat in the water??? madness! I hope Beluga ( my Kruger ) wont hold any grudges on my brief brush with insanity.
