I have a Tahe Wind 585, I hope to use in the 2017 NCC. I am planning to attach a 1m FEKS, I bought from Seadawg. The Tahe deck strength does not appear as strong, as other kayaks in my fleet(Nordkapp LV and Explorer). How much stress, does a sail place on the deck? Thinking , I may need to reinforce the deck, before adding the FEKS. Any one with deck issues, s/p adding a sail. Thanks.

M, you're in for the NCC2017, excellent!
I used that sail on my 8 year old P&H Cetus MV that has a lightweight carbon/Kevlar deck. Nowadays they reinforce the sail mount position but not in my vintage. It was very easy to lay a swatch of 6oz. FG cloth using epoxy to reinforce the underside and the mast step and lateral stay eyes are backed by 1" ss fender washers which have a dab of epoxy between them and the deck. Simple operation all in all.

M,
I have the glass and epoxy at my house if you want to bring the boat sometime. You want to do the work inside this time of year so the epoxy will dry in days not weeks. Also you want to turn the boat upside down to work on the deck as pictured here: http://paddlingandsailing.blogspot.com/2015/03/fat-franks-bulkhear-repair-shop-will.html
Hope to paddle with you again soon.
