   Thanks, with a little luck I can be the first Sea Pearl to finish. I just hope I don't jinx the event's weather. Whenever I've had crew we enjoyed mostly NE winds, but my solo efforts have seen calms and headwinds punctuated by a little bit of scary stuff. It would be nice to get to Placida before daylight on Sunday.

    Amen. Maybe someone can bring one of those dummies people sometimes use to be able to illegally ride in HOV lanes and stuff it aboard Jarhead's Pearl! If those things can fool the po-po, maybe one can fool the wind gods.

   But can he (?) pull his own weight with the oars?  Otherwise, I suspect -- especially if he doesn't actually fool Aeoleus and the wind prooves unfavorable -- that Jarhead will make him walk the plank.  Chief, do the rules require us to finish with the same number as we start with?

   I think he only qualifies for extra flotation. He's as lazy as lazy gets.
