Great write-up, Bob! I got my minimum 8 hours almost every night except the final all-night push to Largo, but inspiring to see how real racers tackle the Challenge. Cheers to you and The Juice!

. Thank you Peter.
I've corrected some of the spelling and some of the diction errors, hopefully all of 'em. I changed the wording just a tiny bit here and there. In other words, it's properly proof read now.
So Peter, what are your future challenge plans?

Well, my wife made me promise not to row the EC again. But I never said anything to her about kayaks or sailboats! But either will require extensive practice, only messed about with them. Have done a lot of canoeing though . . . anyway, no plans yet, just ideas.

I just added an image to the report, something I created back in November of 2012.

That was nice--thanks for sharing, Bob.

You paddlers amaze me. You, The juice, kayak vagabond , and others too numerous to mention. As one of those "sailors". I wonder what it would be like to paddle the whole way. Maybe after I get a couple more under my belt with a sail.

all you need is a few beers and anything is possible. well, add in a little training....now and then... beers only after training, of course,

great write up, very cool. I am in awe of the paddlers. I use the wind, I understand it, but it moves me. Paddlers move themselves, the real grit of the EC. One that amazing night, Monday night, with all the starts. I was so busy keeping us headed to Indian Key I never saw the southern cross. Probably wouldn't have known it if I did, and no bioluminescence. I was bummed by that. I guess thats the benefit of paddling, time to look around.

I agree that Monday night into Tuesday morning was incredible. Shooting stars, an incredible moonrise over still waters where 4 of us were paddling outside of the 10,000 islands onto CP2.
That night was truly amazing, and part of my first all-nighter paddling. OneEyedJake, BarksAtWaves, and I paddled from Picnic Island to get permits at Everglades City and were able to see an amazing sunrise 23 hours after we left Picnic Island near Sanibel. we continued from the Ranger's station to Cp2, then onto Darwin's Place before camping.
Thanks for the excellent write-up as you raced and enjoyed the waves that greeted us in the Gulf!
