I used to think that Hennessy Hammocks were among the best camping hammocks in the world. But when I grabbed my Deep Jungle XL to get ready for the Kruger Challenge all of the sil stuff was sticky like it had a very thin layer of glue on it. The rainfly and the SnakeSkins were totaly useless. My hands got sticky handling the stuff.
When I contacted Hennessy about the issue they responded that it must have been stored in a hot and humid environment. But it was stored at my air conditioned house. They acted like they had never heard of this problem before. I did see one post about it online somewhere.
Hennessy offered me a 50% discount to replace the hammock. I didn't take them up on it because now I don't trust their materials. I still think they have some of the best designs and I love their SnakeSkins when they are not sticky.
One more thing. This happened before with another Hennessy Hammock that I had a several years ago. I threw that one out but it was several years old so I didn't think too much about it.
I have lots of sil covered material from MSR, Cooke Custom Sewing, Big Agnes, and several other companies. I've never seen this problem with any of them.
So, have any of you experienced this same problem?
