WildBlue and I found Core Sound to be somewhat dull sailing. With our fantastic upwind ability there was very little challenge involved when it came to moving his Sirocco 15 through the waves. Surrounded by our luxurious accomodations we would bear toward the nearest shore until the centerboard began to drag, execute a lightning-like tack (always avoiding any rocks, piers, pound nets, or Lenscap) then head back out to port until the water began to come over our bow! Another smart tack to starboard, bail, pump, or sponge out the accumulated bilgewater, draw a bead on Lenscap, and rocket off on our merry way!
Our shore excursion at Drum Point near Sealevel around 1:15 on Saturday allowed us to mingle with other Tribers while we reefed down for the afternoon session. I was eating some delightful rations left over from the 2014 EC. The rusty cans lacked labels, but the calories were appreciated! We had time for conversation and urination while contemplating the sailing delights awaiting us out on Core Sound! Great fun!
GrumpyCat and TweetyBird decided not to play around the shoreline and quickly pulled a horizon job on our little fleet. Adios, and fair sailing to them! Lenscap, Cleanslate, WildBlue and PainenDias enjoyed the views of the near shore (and the smaller waves) while powering up Core Sound! Sharpie and HillKiller looked great with their Core Sound 20 moving along sprightly in a fair breeze! DodgebirdII was powered up and flying in his Laser II! All of them declined the delightful beach accomodations of Rumley Hammock on the north side of Thorofare Bay in favor of the soggy environs at the finish line on Cedar Island! Determined to get full measure of enjoyment for our money invested, Lenscap, WildBlue, and PainenDias took full advantage of the amenities ashore and settled in for some rest and recreation! Lenscap had been showing us the way home while powering up Core Sound straight through wind and waves while WildBlue took a leisurely meandering course covering much more distance while allowing ample sightseeing opportunity! Painendias amused hijmself while asking WildBlue cogently piercing questions such as " are we there, yet!" and "what time will you be serving lunch?' I doubt WildBlue will be picking up annoying hitch-hikers in the near future!
The accomodations were excellent ashore and while WildBlue enjoyed sleeping aboard, PainenDias stretched out on that beautiful sandy beach! The rock-hard sand definitely alleviated any possibility of backache problems in the future as it was straightedge flat, while the wafting breeze, the moonlit waves on the shore, and the serenade of the mosquitoes were intoxicating as the tired saiors wafted into blissful oblivion. Ah! What could be better than fresh air and comfortable surroundings. Cleanslate, you should have stayed a bit and enjoyed the paradise we found on disembarking! We missed you! We even built a fire, but you rushed off on your merry way! Congratulations on your excellent finish and for showing us the way home!
