West Marine currently has the Garmin GPSMAP 78 on sale for $199 and the Garmin GPSMAP 78SC on sale for $349. Seems the main feature differences are the compass and barometer. My last GPS had the compass so I don't know how much different the functionality would be without it. Are the compass and barometer worth $149? Are there other features I'm missing that would help justify the cost difference?
Are there other handheld GPSs I should be looking at instead of these? Durability and price are primary concerns.
