It's the Hobie AI Akas that look about right...Aka II die-cast crossbars
I'm no sailor, but this seemed an interesting way to deal with it:
The [Trikala] does not fold in a conventional way but like some other small designs by Kurt, uses a sliding system with tubular akas, the port ones, sliding into tubes with Teflon runners behind the starboard ones—so the two sides are not exactly symmetrical—a factor that some potential buyers find disturbing, though the difference is purely cosmetic.
Or similarly, maybe tubular port aka's could slide inside slightly larger tubular starboard aka's. That said, this will still not be narrow enough for the upper Broad Creek - you will have to remove them I think. Didn't the Hobie tow the ama's behind or something? I had to completely remove the riggers from my rowing shell, trimming from 66" down to a 32" width. And do some 3-point turns with my 18' length.
