Hi,
Maddave, I respect that you have your opinions about your sail rigs and that you believe that they are superior to other rigs, but to me, your posts seem very near to spamming the forum. Your latest idea using 3 38 batwings would cost a user over $5000 plus amas plus a boat and it seems like a lot of rigging and complication to me and lots of profit to you.
I can buy a TI for that. Actually, I bought mine for less than that. I have simple cat rig with roller furling, 90sq feet of sail, nearly indestructible hulls, the ability to leave the cockpit and sit over the ama, ten minute setup, and excellent customer support from Hobie. Calling my boat a urinal? This is a small boat race, I was on the beach on March 3rd this year and EVERYONE was wearing drysuits or rain gear. That suggests that all the boats on the beach were either ALL urinals or that if you expect to race in nasty weather you should expect to get wet.
Relax a little, we have all seen your sails on the beach, we all know how tremendous they are. Please don't attack other people’s ideas or slight their boats because they are different from yours. Don't forget that we know you run a business selling these sails and your business only exists at the sufferance of your customers. Commenting on discussions with posts about your sail system that really aren't relevant to the discussion is spam. I find that very irritating and sleazy, which makes me less likely to consider your sail system for my Epic 18x and more likely to adapt the TI rig that I already own.
No hard feelings, just a humble opinion...
Cheers,
j
