What's the difference between registering at "Class 4: Core Sound 17" and "Class 4: Small Monohull Boats". I'm reasonably certain the only CS-17s that will show up will be me and maybe Chief, assuming he gets his complete by then.

You can do it either way. I put the Core Sound selection in there so we can have a class race because I anticipate about a thousand Core Sound builders in the next year or so.
Unfortunately, my build is going really slow. I had hoped to have it ready by UF2016 and I was planning on using three boats (Daniel Booning It):
- Hobie AI for Stage 1
- Core Sound Mk 3 for Stages 2 and 3
- Winonah Prism for Stage 4
- Back to Hobie AI for Stage 5
Or something like that.

Interesting. I'm sure Graham and Alan hope you are right. Great boats.
I wouldn't want to row my CS back up the east coast of FL, although the shelter afforded by the Mk III would be nice for urban camping.

Don't count us out...CS 17 #351 La Perla took the year off due to another sailing commitment...look for us to be back in 2016. It's the perfect EC boat: fast, safe, and fun to sail. It would be great to have a "class within Class 4" if enough show up...get to work Chief, the epoxy sets up fast in Florida.

Whoops, forgot about La Perla. There goes my chance for class glory.... sigh...

Interesting UF choices. Chief pitched in another thought with multiple boats that I had not considered. I envy the Core Sound series boats but DonKeyHoTey and I don't have one handy! The G-Cat is fast, but would be suicide offshore on the East Coast. And no protection from any sort of weather! I have been looking at a Strike 18 trimaran and run it offshore going north, then switch to a double kayak for the rivers! I love JollyRoger's elegant designs, but I don't enjoy going it alone. My buddies laugh at my obtuse atitude toward the AI and TI Hobies and my nephew even bought an AI. So many lovely boats, so many decisions. I think MicroTom and Macatawa have elegant designs and they know their canoes. Meade just blows me away with his Voyageur, but I can't match his construction or sailing ability. There is no way I am taking a kayak, although it is tempting with a trimaran rig with a sail.
How are you guys getting up the East Coast? Anybody going to go offshore? Reading Wizard's beautifully chronicled account of his voyage around Florida was enlightening, but he is Wizard, and I am not! Having tested my abilities I am certain going alone is not for me! Who is going single, who is doubling up? An enclosed boat you can crawl into for sleeping looks pretty good to me! It has to row well, and go under bridges if you stay inshore and take the intracoastal north. Dang condos play havoc with the sailing with their wind shadows. Then there are the tides. The Georgia border is a long way north! I love the Lightning, but just try to sleep in ours! Anybody up for a little discussion?

Whoa, please pass the credit given to me on to the innovative Tribers like Chief, SewSew, DKHT, the SandyBottom clan, WhiteCaps, Kiwibird, Sawhorse, Penguinman and many more who are creative and take time to build instead my strategy of buying their old gear. At this point my greatest contribution is stubborn determination. Give me 10 or 20 years to get my work life behind me and start innovating.

If my Core Sound is ready in time, I do intend to go offshore for stages 2 and 3. Of course that will depend on the weather.

How come some registrations can pay but others not?
