A few years back there was a Water Tribe Tracking App. It was a great quick access option for glancing at the Tracker map to see which Water Tribers you were sailing next to during the event. The app seemed to work even when the tracking map was running sluggish from high volume during the EC. Anyone know if this App is still available on the itunes store?

Can't find it in the store but I still have it on my phone. It has a recent update on my SPOT position but not the most recent so not sure what's going on.
Here is a screen shot from the about page.

I believe it is still available for Android phones. The website at captnchaos.blogspot.fr/2013/01/watertribe-everglades-challenge-mobile.html has the following message about the iphone version:
January 2014 - This app will no longer be updated. It's too expensive to maintain for the limited group who need such an app. It will disappear from the itunes store soon
My understanding is that if you have it, that it will continue to work, although the roster list will not be current.

All features should still work for Android and the iphone version but I'm not 100% positive. I tried my best to make it so it would continue to work in future years as long as nothing changes with Chief's mapper. With the newer watertribe challenges and variations, (OFUM, NCPC etc) it was getting complicated keeping current.
The android version is still available but the itunes version is not as they make you jump through hoops to publish apps. I ended up having to buy a mac just to publish current versions and they charge around $100 per year just to have an app in the itunes store.
It's the only app I ever created and my expertise in this area is quite limited. But it was something I used it on my EC attempt.

I made the mistake of deleting it from my iPhone. Doesn't appear I can get it back, alas....

It still seems to be fully functional on my phone. For the record, I would happily pay $10-$15 for this app. I'm guessing a fair few other WaterTribers and their families would too if we knew that the proceeds were going to another WaterTriber. Just my 2 cents.

I'll have to agree with Katamont - you created a great app that's fully functional. I found your app to be very helpful! It's easy to see you put a lot of forsight into ensuring the app would run in the future. I noticed the App appears to be current as it is listing new entrants. The App also appears to be working for the Derby as well. I imagine others out of the 100 plus participants would be willing to pay a nominal one-time fee to use this tracker app given its ease of use.

I also deleted this app off my iphone. I was able to recover the app by connecting my phone to itunes on my laptop via the cord, I found the app was deleted from my phone but was thankfully still in my itunes account. Hopefully, this may help you as well.

Clamcounter: Yep, It's on my computer. Synching it up recovered it and it appears to work. We enjoyed using it during the challenge last year to see who was nearby and where were the folks we were competing with.

I'm glad to hear that the app was useful for some of you. I put hundreds of hours into the programming and it was a lot of fun to build. Unfortunately, even if I wanted to continue, the software I used to maintain and build the app is no longer supported and will cease to work the end of January 2015.
Hopefully the mobile mapper will continue to run for a few more years. I'll keep it active in the android store but it won't be advertised. And thanks for the positive comments about the app, they're greatly appreciated.

Jeah, CaptnChaos, sounds like your app was pretty useful to the participants. Nice work, but too bad it may fade away.
