So its time to start the theory and conjecture that is predicting the weather for EC2014...
Forcast today:
Maybe a new record for starting the weather thread.... :-)
LOL... probably true... I'm not racing this year, so I have nothing better to do than sit back and watch things develop
And its better than watching the weather here...snow day #4, windchill is -10 (which is warmer than yesterday) and the snow is still falling. The drifts are over the kids heads. One month to Florida!
Sorry about the weather up north. I did just look at a picture of snow on the weather channel......got depressed....and then went outside, and ran 4 miles in the sun in shorts and no shirt. Another sunny day in Tampa Bay:) Only 32 days until the rest of the tribe can join us on the beach. Bring your sunscreen:)
Be careful Coastie... you will jinx us...
I’m predicting a “Freak” snow storm to hit the Tampa bay area 1 March. 5 to 8 inches, winds out of the south west at 30 Kts! At least my current training conditions will prepare me.
FeralCat, in a frozen jungle.
just a peak at what things are like in Michigan... this is one of the exits at my office...
granted, it is in a location that is prone to drifing and snow falling from the roof, but even so... we have a lot of snow...
Jeez...that's good fort making snow
The forecast is that it will start snowing here in Augusta in about two hours, and I plan to be paddling in it. It's been a number of years since measurable snow fell in Augusta. See you on the water.
Its great fort building weather - and check out the bright yellow foul weather pants as snow gear!
I will be very careful about how much I complain about the "horrible' cold weather we have here in St. Pete...
Beautiful day for a motorcycle ride in Clearwater
They are forecasting a foot of snow in Virginia Beach by tomorrow. That is unheard of.
Chief needs to add a line in the DERBY training: ONE HOUR - SHOVELING SNOW...
If he does that I just won the Derby. South Bend sucks this winter.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming...
Looks pretty good for the sailors
Please be correct !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've decided to not start looking at it until week before. Too much divergence from day to day, model run to model run to get excited about anything.
17 gusting to 32 is pretty sporty y'all. Be careful what you ask for!
Remember this is not the Marine forecast. Add 8-10Kts for wind. DWM
Yeah, 25 to 40 sounds about right DWM. They just have the direction wrong, it will be blowing from the South.
Hope we dont get fog like this during the EC. This picture was taken this weekend in Clearwater, Florida. Somewhere beyond our Hobie is an intercoastal waterway. Luckily, a breeze lifted the fog just at we finished rigging the boat.
Days like this are good practice for paddling through the 10,000 islands at Chocoloskee. Not! :)
FWIW, the long term forcast has been holding fairly steady for the past few days...
S winds at the start with a front Saturday night bringing a wind shift to WNW:
I refuse to even THINK about the weather (except for alternative route planning) until 7 days before launch. I'm trying the zen approach—if I can't change it and I've prepared for it, I'm trying not to think about it.
South wind gusting to 30? Lalallalalalalaa I don't hear you lalalallaalalallla.... ;-)
I think that fog would scare me more than anything else. Nothing like a shipping channel within the first quarter mile of the start and a hundred ft. visability. No way I would start in that. Hoping for sunny and clear. DWM
Accuweather just changed the forcast , check it out . It is to early to check but I can not help myself . Can you here the drums?
This reminds me of a saying my dad was fond of; "only a damn fool or a damn yankie would try to predict the weather in Florida".
Not sure which catagory I fall into. I always leave my windows open on my truck, thinking "It's not going to rain"....
Well this doesn't look too bad...
