Saturday evening and I think I have finished buying stuff for the trip. I have all my gear on the floor of the basement - most of it in dry bags. Tomorrow I will see if it all fits in my Triak.

Sunday at noon. I just loaded up my Triak with all my gear. It is a tight fit but it does all fits inside. Just barely. I will need to have the spinnaker installed in the snuffer sack on the bow the entire time. I won't have room to store that below. I'm taking quite a bit more food than on the NCC since this trip is so much longer. I'm probably taking too much food but that is the error that all first timers to the EC must make. The second time I will know how much I will actually eat.
Now it is time to unpack and load the Triak on top of my vehicle. I am going to be extremely busy with work on Monday and Tuesday and I have after-work obligations on both those nights. I have family obligations tonight so I need to be all packed up this afternoon.
I'm leaving on my long drive Tuesday night after my after-work obligations.

Slept in my last bed (in a cheap hotel in NC). Will drive the rest of the way now. No more hotel beds till the EC is over.

Jeff, you should turn your tracker on so we can see you heading down the coast.

I'll turn my spot on for a quick OK once per state. I just did for NC.

Ran aground just before CP1 and the down-haul line to my rudder pulled out. I limped into CP1 and then spent 45 minutes treading water at the stern of my boat fixing the rudder. I think it's good now. I'll camp here at CP1 and then depart at first light. All in all, though, a very good trip so far. The wind has been great.

Camped at Wiggins pass last night. Taking my time departing. I see that everybody that camped here is out in the gulf. It should be a nice run down the coast. I'll be heading out in a few minutes

Camped out at Panther Key last night. Fixed a problem with my spinnaker sniffer and hot s late start. Stopped by ranger station at Everglades Cite and made camp reservations at Mormon Key and Middle Cspe for the next two nights. I'm now about ready to depart CP3.

Camped at pavilion key instead of Mormon Key. Was sailing at night and didn't want to do the extra distance. Met up with DancesWithWaves there. We both then proceeded to Middle Cape. We had a great down wind run most of the way in very strong wind conditions.
My spinnaker snuffer contraction was interfering with my ability to surf down waves so I decided to take it off while out in a blow. The wind was too strong to use the spinnaker and the spinnaker in the snuffer has collected about 20 pounds of water as I dived down waves. I unhooked my anchor and tied the anchor line to me and went overboard to take the snuffer off. The safety line was important because the wind was blowing my boat faster than I could swim. With the spinnaker snuffer off the bow, I was in business. We made really good time to and around the cape. WindBlown said he clocked 12 knots at one point surfing down waves. I must have done that as well because I passed him along the way.
We camped at Middle Cape and listed to the wind how all night long. It was calmer in the morning and we had an uneventful close hauled ride to CP3. DancesWithWaves and I decided to camp out overnight at the checkpoint and get an early departure in the morning. WindBlown decided to press on to the finish.
We also met up with WindBlown

Left Flaminho at day break and did the Florida Bay crossing via the twisty mile pass. We had favorable wind except for strong headwinds the last 10 miles or so. Finally reached the finish line at about 5:50 PM. It was fun because the was a large crowd cheering all the finishers.
I took the Syrian apart and then had dome Cuba. Good for dinner. Now I just need a good night sleep.

Made it home safe and sound. Now to unpack, wash everything, and start to look at and edit my videos I took during the challenge.
