What great memories of 2012! To help me, and possibly be a help to others, in a few months I'm going to ask everyone who is racing the UM or EC in 2013 to send me picture of themselves with the boat they are racing in. My idea is to compile a "year book" type thing...haven't figured that all out yet. Often last year I was asked what boat someone was in and sometimes the best I could do was say what class. I think it may also help checkpoint captains. Look for the invitation to e-mail me your picture later this year.
That was HairyKerry. He is a darn good river paddler but the conditions and open water of Tampa Bay at the start were too much for him and his boat. He wisely decided to DNS. My only comment on that is that he could have just waited a day or even two and then started.
For all river paddlers, make sure you have open water experience before signing up for a WaterTribe Challenge.

I would like to use 99-110, 132-135, 143-144 on my website http://www.rogermann.org I quess than may be commerical but I am a org and applied for non profit status. Let me know. And thanks.
You seem to have taken a few of my rudder which blew out after my grounding in lemon bay and then repair. I have the after -result photos on my site and the watertribe blog. It just almost seemed that you were concerned about it on the beach. If correct- rightfully so!
It was a great experience, a fun boat, and I would do it again without hesitation. Many lessons learned. And you even got a photo of Wilson!
Good photos all the way down the line. Nice job! Revisiting the experience from a different eye was enjoyable!

Thanks for sharing! Fond memories!
Funny how conditions in pictures always look nicer than they were.
Nice is not what I remember that crossing to be:)
these pics instantly brought the butterflies back to my stomach!
thanks!
JollyRoger,
absolutely, you may certainly use the photos on your website.
i'm impressed that you remembered my reservations about the rudder, i was really bummed to read that it didn't work out. there is so much stress on that system of a boat... glad you liked the pics.
hope to compete with you next year

The conditions from shore at the start didn't look bad at all, but they quickly deteriorated as we got away from shore!

Thanks for sharing!

I didn't take many pictures this year because I was too busy so if anyone has any to share of us I would like to use them in a presentation.
