This fresh off the laranx , wife is in the middle of putting together an email to invite relatives and friend to head down to Key Largo for the finish. She asked me when I was getting in to Key Largo, I hollered "my goal is either the 10th or 11th", about a 10 minute pause and I could hear her typing in the next room, then shouts back (totally serious) in her dictatorial voice, "Not going to work for the kid's schedule, I need you to arrive on the 12th"

At least she was giving you more time instead of less time. I say take the alligator route.

my wife did the EC with me in 2013 and is annoyed we don't have definite plans to do it together again yet. I win!

Now THIS doesn't remind me of THAT!
But the facial expressions do remind me of my honey whenever I try to utter any of these sounds: water, tribe, wind, sail. etc..

Upon my triumphant return EC2013, my wife made me promise I would not row that stupid race again. EC2014 I acquiesced, I did it in a kayak.
Luckily I have a place to keep boats so she does not see I now have 3. No signs of stopping. But about to break my promise . . .

Gotta find the right spouse! Mrs Mullet dragged 4 boats into the stash and now wants to throw a paddle board into the fleet. Realizing I married an enabler made it even harder to sell some boats since there is no spousal resistance to boat aquisition. I have tried to thin the herd out of respect for my neighbors. DWM

My first race of any kind, beyond 6 miles was the 2014 Everglades Challenge. It was a chunk to bite off. On night 3, I was sick as a dog with dehydration problems, and felt like a homeless person with no place to go, on the beach near Naples. I picked up the phone and called my wife and explained how things were going. She said “maybe you have bit off too much this time”. Those words were like kryptonite. Those where the best words of motivation I heard in a very long time. I had to make it to Key Largo after that. I cannot wait to get down there again, and reduce my number of mistakes from big mistakes every day, to just a few good ones along the way.

Try this one: "Since you are picking up a new boat at the BBC, I decided to put two of your other boats on craigslist while you were racing. Your Catalina 30 is sold. When I mentioned in the add for your race boat that you are currently racing the Black Beard Challenge, it got a lot of interest. I have scheduled 4 different people to look at the boat when you get home."

Two questions if this is for real.
#1 Still married?
#2 Why?

As Knotsyched race partner, I can affirm that the story is true. #1 is also true. #2, we'll have to wait for him to chime in. haha

Yes. It is for real.
The answer to why is I probably need to enter a 12 step program for boats. I own too many and spend my free time as a slave to boat maintenance.
Before I left for the BBC, we discussed the possibility of downsizing the fleet. I was thinking of a much longer timeline.
The timing and efficiency were brutal.

This topic reminded of by fellow triber this morning, of a post late, this one just getting off Key Largo and onto the Florida Peninsula and only faintly audible, like a little echo, not fully registered, just skimming off the surface of consciouness:
"Oh my gosh, tsaa -uuuuh, You're not already thinking bout doing the EC next year, are you, hey, are you listening, hey?"

My bride (who has chosen the tribal name Sunseeker) has told me that I can't go next year since both ZeroTheHero and PlumbCrazy have other plans for the EC. I'm not allowed to go solo....

Take your wife with you. Problem solved!

"You said you would not have to buy anything new becuase you had all the equipment you needed from doing the race last year"

My wife and Chainsaw's take the Truck and trailer to Key Largo and stay at the Paradise Cabin at Sunset Cove, about 60 ft off the water. They really look forward to it, and this year when we were packing up to head home my wife said the usual..."did you reserve for next year?" The rest of the year whatever I spend on the boat becomes totally irrelevant.

SwampMonkee for the win! But no fair, you had bigger boats so the EC may look "affordable"!
