Being a sailor and spending all my time on my boat I didn't have any encounters during the race, but the little bastards had a welcome home suprise for me. Mrs. Mullets sunfish was left upright in the raincatching position while I was gone, this provides a racoon watering hole and social gathering point. Now an animal with the brainpower to defeat just about any trash can securing device you think would have the brains not to crap in their own water supply. Not the case! The sunfish cockpit was not only the the sink and toilet for the local coons, some intrepid little masked bandit decided to drop in a dead turtle! Now I pride myself on having a strong stomach, but the turtle stew brewing in my absence would cause a maggot to gag. I cleaned and pressure washed and my friend Dan jumped in as I was fading, Mrs. Mullet sailed the boat tonight none the wiser as to the crime scene that I found this morning. So any other coon stories? DWM

They were alive and well on Mormon Key this year, as always--even the ranger at Everglades City noted that they were some of the worst of their kind there. We heard lots of scrabbling in the wee hours of the morning--with sand left everywhere over the boats--but no ingress. Sieche had his boat turned over.
The UofM students camping on the Key a couple of nights had a few stories...
