Ok reviewing my safety equip, and manuals., and say by chance I am floating lazydazically westward 8 miles off of Cape Sable, I've activate my plb, see the strobe start beating once a second and the red light flashing every 3 seconds, and I got the antenna standing, unit out of the water, nice and horizontal, and I thrust it up as far my arm can reach, pointing the top face to HEAVEN, My nose immediatley starts to itch, then after the first 3.2 seconds without hearing any MH-60T Jayhawk prop thumping approaching, I start worrying that I haven't activated it properly... but don't want to point it down as I may screw up the transmitting vector. After 1 minute and still no prop thumping, I bring it down in front of my face, and notice that the Strobe is now beating once every 3 seconds like the red light, which is good cuz I remember studying that too. I push my arm back up for a while, and instantly begin thinking, well how long does it take for the red to go off and turn to blinking green.. "didnt it say the red blinking meant only transmitting the 406mhz signal, n is it sorta kinda important that it begins blinking green quickly to send my GPS coord along with the distress beacon? "
Seriously, if the red flashing does not turn to Flashing Green, other than not to expect the prop thumping anytime soon, what should I do in this situation. I can't find the answer ...
