HI Uthred,

The pas sail is a down wind sail and the pas sail is inefficient when trying to use it on a reach and it causes the kayak to heel. I would use a one meter Batwing to achieve more power and less heeling on a reach. Handling two sails is not that difficuilt. I have handled a 3 masted schooner with 3 BSD sails. The Batwing front sail acts as a jib feeding the next sail and the 2nd sail feeds the 3rd when sailing closer to the wind and I was able to hit higher speeds and point closer to the wind.

	                  Maddave

I tried the BSD and PAS combo today to see how much more effective a headsail would make windward performance. I did not find handling a second sail to be overly complicated I did see where the PAS has its limitations. When you pull it back to either side, the end that is farthest away from the cockpit catches the wind if you try to point too far because it is on the windard side and not centered as the mast is, I suppose you could adjust the straps but you would have to do this for every tack. It does this much before the main sail starts to luff.

Over all I found the performace difference to be minimal, I had to keep my main sail reefed with the second sail up to keep the amas above the water. Up here in Ontario it is still way too cold to break anything and go over!

	Hi KiwiBird.

Deck is canvas and the hull is rubber. It a Long Hull folding Kayak Mark 1 (single). Fast and stable. Can carry a lot of gear. There is a Mark 2 (double) folding kayak that is very stable. There is a new version of the Ute coming out. I will be testing it soon. I will post pictures. I will be offering a line of folding kayaks that can be fitted with a BSD sail rig.

Sailing a BSD upwind in high winds a day after a hurricane hit Long Island. Sailed a Mark 1 Long Haul folding kayak. Used a 36 HP Vision. The sail was reef to 22 sq. ft.reef and I also used the extreme boss so I can survive the severe weather conditons. The extreme boss has never failed in any Watertribe events.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXONb7mP6ZM&list=ULFXONb7mP6ZM&feature=player_detailpage

The next Video was shot at Sheaphead Bay NY . Sailed a Mark 1 folding kayak. Used a 36 HP Sport. The sail was reef to 30 sq ft.http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=ULGviLhAjNKsk&v=GviLhAjNKsk&feature=player_detailpage
