Regarding mounting a FEKS to a Sea Wind:

I'm not an expert but I did just rig the 1m Flat Earth sail on my Sea Wind. I ended up mounting the mast base 205 cm from the center of the seat. I gave some thought to mounting it even a bit further forward, but decided this was a good spot considering some other rigging I have on the deck.

I also mounted a stainless steel pad eye an each side of the boat even with the mast base for the side stays, and am using the 4 point suspension system I've seen in other pictures rather than the 3 point system that was described in the mounting instructions that came with my sail.

I can post some pictures if others are interested. And if others have pictures of their Sea Wind mounts I'd love to see them.

Yes JohnE, I would like to pictures?

Iv just read back through this thread , and desided to coment on a few more things,

The Kruger being a ''canoe '' rather than a kayak , with a sea kayak we are restricted by the size of the cocpit and the need to reach our rig, in partiqular the boom when its being stowed away. With a deked canoe thers a bit more room , and I emagin the ability to moove forword to stow a sail easier.

when placing the mast position thers a cupal of things to consider, wher it sits when its stowed, and wher the boom is when its up , I like to position the mast so I get a full high angel stroke in with my paddel ,

the positioning will influwence the sailing performance and caricteristics of the kayak /canoe , but not as much as peopal like to think, (afterall it's a canoe not a performance sailing skiff ! ) I prefer to run side stays and back stay, placing the back stay can be dificalt on an open or decked in canoe , ther are 2 options, run two backstays (4 side stays as previously mentiond ) this is good , the hard thing is geting the tention eaven on the stays. anuther way is to position the saddels asif you wher going to mount 4 stays , between 300 and 400mm behind the mast foot, then run a bridel across the back saddles and tie the back stay into the senter of this bridal , it wont mater if its abit off senterd as the side stays hold the mast position , its not sheard between the two port or two starbord stay .thid bridal can also be yoused to run your main sheet through sa well.

hope this made sence , Im going to make up sume more u tube showing diferant idears shortly .

Good morning, Down hear we dont have Krugers, ther is one that has had a cz100 put on it , on my blog site ther is a video . As I understand the sea wind is the deked in version , the directions for fiting youses a mesurment of 175cm from the senter of the seat forword , this is just a referance point as you may need to moove it forword or back to cleas deck hatches , fitings or cumpasses ect... I do recomend yousing the back stay as it will help in pointing a bit higher . being vertualy an open canoe you will need to modify sume of the atachment points for the job .

thers a lot of vidio and extra info on both my blog and the web site .

Unfortunatly I cant recall who it was that fited it to the Kruger .

Good morning, hears the tecnical info on the CX100 bilt to watertribe specs

its .99mter sqear (total arier including small ariera below the boom )

 top depth of cord 7%

 mid depth of cord 10%

foot depth of cord 5%(mesured at boom poket )

with 12% twist layed into the sail .

I also make up a .8meter and a .7 meter, good sails for expoditions, the resent sercumnavigation of Australia by sea kayak yoused a .8 for the botom half and a .7 for the top half . I personaly youse the cz70 for solo trips its more forgiving, and with my light boat , 15kg with sail and emergancy kit , + 20kg of kit + 85kg of me it pushes me along well in sume good winds , but still forgiving enuf for a good safty margin on solo trips. If I ever get the chnce to get over ther for a chalange I wold definatly youse the cz100 , with its reefing down to 1/3 I think its a good alrounder for sea kayaks and the likes .

I also make up custom sails , talk to eather Dalphin Gall or Kiwi about sails!

Yes, the area includes all the way out to the edge of the sail with the tubes installed.

Yes, the small triangle at the bottom is included in the sail area.

But for sails from PAS, FEKS, BSD, and other sail manufacturers we accept their published sail area for production sails. So if you buy a 1 meter sail from PAS or FEKS or BSD you don't have to worry about measuring.

	Hi,

I believe this question is for Chief. When measuring sail area on a PAS type sail or a FEKS sail do you include the section of sail that the tubes side through? Also on the FEKS type sail is the small triangle at the bottom included in total sail area?
